Tennis Shoes for Flat Feet & Indoor Carpet Play : 10s

What type of shoes do you play in?

Main Post:

I usually play in running shoes because I'm flat footed and need the support, however since they're not made for lateral movements the treads get completely destroyed, ruining the shoes?

Any one out there flat footed and can recommend sneakers?

Top Comment:

Go with Basketball shoes or volleyball shoes. They are meant for omni directional movement. In terms of support, you can buy inserts for your shoe to help that issue.

[Review] Player Shoes "remastered" Common Projects Achilles Low

Main Post:

Hi everyone, haven't seen a review for the "remastered" edition of Player Shoe's batch of the CP Achilles Low both links on his store are the "remastered" edition now, the old one is just legacy. so I decided to share a comprehensive review with the community to answer questions that I had during the process. Pics/W2C at the bottom.

I used this guide to go through the whole process.

Preliminary Thoughts:

I was going through the links on the subreddit and noticed that there was a new set that nobody had reviewed yet so I decided to GP as the QC pictures looked good and the photos included on the product page made it seem like they went through some small detailed revisions with materials and design. Not quite sure what the subtle differences are between the "previous" pair but the quality on them is pretty good aside from a few small issues on the black pair. My only basis that these are newer is the detailed process pics on the product page and that he listed them as "Winter 2017" whereas the previous pair is listed as "Summer 2017".

Sizing and Shipping Advice:

I typically size USA 10.5/43.5 for Nike and Asics, so I purchased size 43. I recommend going down half a size if you're in between shoe sizes without issues like flat arch or wide foot, otherwise go up. The shoes appear to be made of actual leather so overtime the more that you wear them the better they will fit you.

I also recommend asking for HQ pictures of the back shoe stitching as that bears the most stress when wearing them. Another good picture is the insole itself on the off chance you receive an incorrectly sized shoe.

Shipping took roughly 3 days to reach the warehouse, two days to process and send the QC pictures, and about 5 days to ship and arrive to the USA through EMS. I opted to remove the shoe boxes (to reduce shipping costs), add Moister-Barrier Bags and wrap the package itself in Stretch Film to protect against any moisture that could occur during the shipping process. I believe this was a good choice because the shipping box opened on the way over but the film kept everything together. There was also a dried orange film on the outside of the wrap but the inside was completely fine.

Quality

Although I'm not sure of the quality of retail pairs, I believe these will have no problem holding up overtime after inspecting them. One of my issues is that the inner stitching appears to be a little loose and inconsistent compared to the outside stitching. The stitching location might end up being a bit problematic and cause it to loosen after long enough use, but this is just a personal concern and I don't know if this how it looks like for retail.

My black pair had a few minor issues, Superbuy let me know of a yellow stain on the shoe so I chatted with the seller on WeChat and they offered to clean it for me if i sent it back to them, which was very generous. This would probably take another week, so I asked if it would be possible to clean it myself and he said there wouldn't be any problem. It's really unnoticeable unless you're looking for it, but make sure to check your pairs before shipping. Another issue was that when sealing my package, the back of one shoe was sealed onto the adhesive of the moister-barrier bag and left an adhesive stain on them. I took a microfiber cloth and water to remove the adhesive and the shoe's black color rubbed off onto the cloth but the stain was left behind. I believe this is still the adhesive but I don't currently have any shoe cleaner to be sure.

Ending Thoughts

Overall, I think this was a good investment. I honestly only cared about the white pair and the black one would be used for going out so I expect them to get dirty. I'm not sure how they'll hold up but I might update this review in a few months with how well they're coming along. Definitely don't expect perfect with the price you're paying but when one pair costs $410 retail and two replicas cost roughly $100~ I think they're definitely worth it. With my concern over the pigment of the leather fading, I would also 100% recommend buying an oil & water repellent just to prolong their life.

Thanks for reading, and hopefully my review helps someone out!

TLDR; shoe quality good for price point, all common projects sold are now the remastered version. He kept the link for the old one so people can find it using the old link still

Updated Random Stuff

6/2019 Stitching quality on the white pair has come slightly loose due to my cleaning brush being too firm. Not a big deal overall. Had an issue with the tongue of shoes rubbing against the upper part which caused them to squeak excessively when walking, used baby powder and they're silent now after breaking them in.

Thank to you u/AColdFloor for his QC uploading tool!

Top Comment: The Superbuy agents' insole measurements is misleading. Actual insole length: https://imgur.com/a/CgC9KH6 tbh, I think both listings of the "old" and the new one are also the remastered batch. They released it to show that its been updated, but didn't bother taking the old listing down as it has a ton of reviews, ratings and user pictures. I fail to see why they would produce an inferior batch on purpose after they bothered making changes. Anyways, good review! I have another blush pair incoming on Monday.

[Help] Suitable shoes for my kind of play style

Main Post:

I'm 6 ft tall and I'm usually positioned as a power forward in competitive basketball. But, I play socially more often than i go for competitions. When I play socially,I play almost every position and i think that may be the reason why my shoes get worn out fast. So i want to know if there is anyone out here like me, that is able to find a suitable shoe that is durable and good?

6 ft tall, power forward

choose one lol. nah just joking. Any lebrons will be good for you man. You should aim for mid-high top shoes if you play near the basket.

Shoes for both running and basketball?

Main Post:

Anyone have suggestions for shoes that would work for both? I would probably use them for running mostly, but sometimes play basketball.

Top Comment:

I wouldn’t think so. Since the movements are quite different. Long time health is worth more than an extra pair of shoes. Plus if you are running outside and playing inside. They probably won’t like getting their floor scratched.

Can't afford shoes so i can't play for my team

Main Post:

Hi, I am 16 going into my junior year of high school. My coach said I could start varsity this year but my basketball shoes have holes in them and my soles are ripped. I live with my single mom and sister. My mom said we can't afford shoes this season, I would get a job but I have to watch my sister so I'm stuck on what I can do to continue my career. Basketball is the love of my life and helps me with all my issues. The season is approaching soon can someone tell me what I should do.

Well since I can't play, I guess I'll just buy a bunch of shoes =P

Main Post:

Quarantine has me going crazy, but I have found some solace in retail therapy an thought I'd share my experience with the shoes I've gotten. I've been working out and doing jump training in them, so even though I haven't actually had a chance to play in them, I've logged a good amount of jumps and miles in them.

PG3. I can't believe that this shoe is still available! I popped the zoom unit in my last pair after a year of very heavy use. It's an overall amazing shoe. FANTASTIC traction, really bouncy zoom unit in forefoot and great fit. There is literally no issue with traction on this shoe. I never wiped for dust ever, just consistently flawless traction. It is a great overall shoe for any position. You can still get this shoe on Dickssportinggoods.com and they have a good number of colorways as well. It does take several wears for the shoe to break in and you foot is going to hurt until you do so, but once you do, oh man, its just so good! For a shoe under $100 now, you aren't going to get a better bang for your buck anywhere.

Air Jordan 34. Ok so this shoe is expensive, but its super light and has a huge zoom unit in the forefoot. The cushioning though isn't as good as you'd expect. It is very bouncy, but the impact protection isn't great. Additionally there is this plastic piece in the toe box that squishes your pinky toe. I don't have particularly wide feet though, so this was pretty uncomfortable, but it does break in after about a week. The best thing about this shoe is that it fits my Active Ankles almost like they were made for them. I am going to keep these in my bag once leagues start up again. I feel like they're advertised as having a lot of tech in them, but half of it gimmicky like the eclipse plate. Not the best bang for your buck, but traction is on point and the fact that it works with Active Ankles makes this a keeper.

Lebron 16 Low. I initially got these because I heard they were better than the 16 mids. They fit pretty snug and I tried true to size and half a size up. Honestly, it was strange how there was barely a difference. I ended up sticking with half a size up. Traction on the shoe is top tier. I had no issue with dust accumulation and it felt like I was jumping on a trampoline. Impact protection was great as well, so I feel like I could jump in these all day. One issue is that its REALLY high off the ground and this might cause some issues with some people especially if you're not used to it. As a result court feel is basically non existent. I'd personally wear this shoe if playing outside or middle.

Lebron 16 mids. Ok so I actually ended up returning the lows for the 16 mids. The fit was better because it had a traditional tongue and lacing system. The 16 mids do run bigger than the lows though, so I suggest true to size. Same thing as the lows though overall. Great traction, great trampoline like cushioning with great impact protection. no bueno with court feel and it doesn't work well with active ankles. I can't say enough good things about this shoe. It is not cheap though and harder and harder to find these days.

Zoom Rize. Great overall shoe. For a non signature shoe, I am so happy with this shoe. With the PG4 going away from zoom air, I'm really glad that this shoe is here to kind of fill in as an affordable all arounder option. Traction is good, not as great as the PG3, but I'm not complaining about it. It does accumulate dust, but from the floors I've been on, it wasn't that bad. The cushioning is great. The description you get on the site is that it is meant for the upwardly mobile and I think it does a good job. It isn't as bouncy as the Lebron 16s, but its better than the PG3. It does take a couple wears to break in, especially the upper, but once you do, its really comfortable. The kinda high topness of the shoe does make it impractical to use with Active ankles though. Another thing I like about this shoe is that the lacing system is really nice. It works whether you want to make it super tight or a looser fit. It comes out of the box super tight though, so you will have to really loosen it up out of the box just get your foot in there.

I feel like I kind of made every shoe sound amazing, but honestly they are all great shoes. Nike is really just so far ahead of the game compared with other companies. IMO Mizuno has 0 impact protection and wears out too fast. Asics is all impact protection, no bounce, and also wears out quickly. Addidas shoes has non consistent traction and their foam based cushioning bottoms out over time.

I hope this has been helpful for anyone looking to buy new shoes!

Lastly, I figured I might just put in here that I am really hoping to pick up a pair of size 9 Hyperattacks. They've been discontinued and are impossible to find now. If anyone is trying to get rid of their pair, hit me up!

Adidas Crazy Explosives were my favorite shoe to play in. Then they bottomed out like you said and for some reason I developed achilles tendinitis in them that still bothers me almost over a year later. I switched to Lebron 17, PG3, and Currys and they’re good, I just wish they felt like fresh adidas did. Bought some Harden 4s im excited to try out once we get back up and playing though.

[Help] (X-Post r/sneakers) Basketball shoes for beginners

Main Post:

I want something that is relatively affordable since it will be my first basketball shoe. I play more of a quick cut or stop and go role on my team. Recently I have been playing in running shoes and my feet and toes get banged up and bruised, so maybe a shoe that provides some protection. Any tips or suggestions are helpful. Thanks!

Top Comment:

It really depends on where you play how you play and your budget, for outdoors I have little experience but I've had no issues using my old hyper dunks, for indoors in 85-125 range I recommend lebron soldiers or preferably hyper dunks, both these shoes withstood near daily use for 4+ months, I hope you find this helpful.

Does getting a good pair of tennis shoes make a difference?

Main Post:

Been using running shows for awhile. Will I notice a difference after buying a good pair? Planning on going to the store this weekend

Top Comment:

You want something that gives you stability, especially in lateral movement. Running shoes are made for cushion mostly and for running in a more or less straight line. Shit needs to be stable.

They need to be comfortable for you too, of course. Just try out a few tennis shoes and choose the ones that feel best. Don't play with running shoes, you'll hurt yourself unless you walk at the pace of an 80 year old lady that recently had hip replacement surgery.
